Another Coal Harbour dream hotel, the Fairmont Pacific Rim is really like nothing else in the city. It is known for it's ultra luxurious spa and drool worthy harbour view. The Fairmont Pacific Rim has many different suite options ranging from 800 - 2,250 square feet - which, let's be honest, is bigger than most people's apartments. The city views are breathtaking and the ocean views are, well, also breathtaking. A must see in the city, even if you are just there to enjoy a few cocktails in the always bustling lobby bar.

Consistently ranked as one of the best hotels in Vancouver, L'Hermitage is a 'must stay' for visitors wanting to be in the heart of the action. There is an outdoor salt water lap pool, expansive fitness facility and a outdoor garden area. Bonus points: A new wine bar/restaurant, Tappo, opened beneath the hotel recently. It replaced the always impressive Q4 but the new concept is definitely worth checking out. Not so bonus points: The Telus Garden mega construction site is across the street and depending which way the suite faces, alarm clocks will be replaced by jack hammering.

Another noteworthy downtown Vancouver boutique hotel is Moda. Located at a prime corner location, the hotel itself is small and quaint with the perfect mix of hip and historic allure. Head downstairs for some of the best cocktails at Uva Wine Bar (which also serves breakfast in the AM) before stumbling a few steps over to the award-winning Cibo Trattoria. Also in the building is a local wine and beer store with some of the most interesting items found in Vancouver.

A couple years ago, this 1950s era landmark hotel never would have made any 'best of' lists. Why is it worthy now? After new ownership took over a few years back, the place under went a complete reno which turned the cool factor up by at least a thousand points. Ultra-mod furniture, funky paint colours, and host to some of the best parties in the city (this year's halloween party was the place to be), the Burrard is a boutique hotel worthy of a reintroduction.

The lobby and hallways are something out of a nightclub and the rooms feature brightly painted walls and shiny everything. The revolving list of bars beneath the hotel play host to events all year round and have often featured Vancouver's local celebrities (the Vancouver Canucks of course) who are known to pop in for a cocktail after a game.
