CornerSpotter: Former Hotel on Prominent Gastown Corner

Cornerspotter is the Curbed Vancouver feature in which we show you a historical photo taken somewhere in the city and you identify the location. Impress fellow Curbed readers with your knowledge by leaving guesses in the comments or send them to our tip line.

Here's a vintage photo dating all the way back to 1890 when this corner was home to a hotel. No longer there, the high profile Gastown corner is now home to a collection of restaurants and retail boutiques. After a couple rounds of renovations, one of them a mere $700 in 1901, the façade remains nearly the same today. Any guesses where this historical photo is taken?
