A plan which protects Shaughnessy and pre-1940s houses from the big, bad wrecking ball has been approved by the City of Vancouver. The Heritage Action Plan includes a delay on demolition for up to one year and a law that requires a minimum reuse and recycling of 75% of the demolition waste on homes built prior to 1940 and a whopping 90% from character homes across the city.
