In the spirit of opening day of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, we decided to take a trip down memory lane and showcase some construction shots of Vancouver's very own Olympic Village. Unlike the reports coming from Sochi, Vancouver's Olympic Village was actually completed prior to the arrival of athletes. While the Olympic Village hasn't been without its controversy, the neighbourhood, now simply called the Village on False Creek, has blossomed into a thriving little community complete with all the amenities that residents could ever need - certainly a far cry from the once vacant and lifeless lands it used to be. Since the revival of the area, the success of the Village has sparked development interest with a number of projects currently in construction or in the pre-development phase. It has been exciting to see the transition of the Village. What was once waterfront industrial land has now become a cherished Olympic memory that is growing in population every day.
