On Monday we reported that the former Downtown Eastside jail at 211 Gore Street had plans to be converted into social housing units. Construction has commenced with the removal of the walls in order to make way for a shiny new building that will consist of 96 units of social housing, shared amenity space, common lounges, community gardens, and onsite employment training.
