VIVA Vancouver is hosting a design competition for the next summer's upcoming pedestrian plaza which closes down the 800-block of Robson Street and makes room for unique outdoor seating areas in an effort to bring people together. The theme this year is "connection" (sounds deep, we know) and the winning team will get $37,500 towards the materials, fabrication, construction, installation, and de-installation for their project.
We're pretty excited to see what they come up with next. Remember the year they threw a bunch of bean bag like chairs in the middle of the road? They ended up being a comfortable place for homeless dudes to sleep - bean bag chair vs. hard cement ground. Yeah, can't say we blame them.
