Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various Vancouver neighborhoods. Today's price: $1,700.
↑ The search begins in the Curbed Cup winning neighbourhood that is the West End. Located at Burnaby and Jervis Street, this suite has recently been renovated and appears bright and clean. There is one bedroom, one bathroom and total size is 600 square feet. Typical of West End apartments, there is shared laundry in the building. The brand new hardwood floors are a nice touch against the crispness of the white walls. Bonus points: there is a rooftop pool with some pretty fantastic views of the city and English Bay.
↑ Over in Coal Harbour, we found this one bedroom, one bathroom suite located in the Bayview Tower on West Pender Street. Only a few blocks from the ocean and Stanley Park, the location is hard to beat. Just under 600 square feet, the suite has all of the modern fixtures a renter can expect in the neighbourhood. The building features a gym, outdoor Jacuzzi and as described in the brokerbabble, "awe-inspiring and panoramic views." Sounds dreamy.
↑ This Kitsilano one bedroom, one bathroom suite is located right beside Kitsilano Beach Park. It was renovated in 2010 to include a new kitchen, bathroom, and flooring. The square footage is not listed, but the corner unit appears spacious enough, though in desperate need of a de-clutter. Rare for Kits apartment rentals, the suite includes underground parking which is included in the rent.
↑ Onwards to Yaletown, this one bedroom, one bathroom suite is located at Homer and Nelson. The brokerbabble states the suite is "a dream come true"...that is if your dreams consist of 625 square feet of Yaletown living. There is a solarium that can be used as an office and fireplace in the living room. Future top chefs beware: The kitchen is rather compact and lacks counter space and storage. This is Yaletown after all.
↑ At last, we end our search in Gastown where this modern loft looks rather unique. The bedroom appears to have its own separate area to give the impression of different rooms. The bathroom area is a little odd with its sliding glass doors located just down from the kitchen area. Diner parties could get a tad bit awkward. The suite is sizeable at 900 square feet and is located along Water Street for the ultimate Gastown vibes.
