Everyone can now relax - the 83 year old tourist attraction known as the Hobbit House at King Edward and Cambie will not be torn down, thanks to developer David Mooney. Mooney and his development company purchased the three houses to the west of the house and the City offered to loosen the zoning bylaws if he purchased the iconic home and incorporate it into his planned townhouse development. The house will under go a slight reno with the help of heritage expert Donald Luxton, including removing the elevator to the roof and restoring the 83 year old faux thatched roof. [WE Vancouver]
