The owner of 451 Powell Street is having a rough go of things these days - In July, the building partly collapsed onto the neighbouring building, forcing more than a dozen residents to evacuate. This also forced the City to intervene and call an emergency demolition of the building the following day. Now said neighbouring building owner, Ming Sun Benevolent Society, is filing a law suit against the collapsing building owner for negligence in maintaining his property, the cost of the City of Vancouver's eviction of the tenants, lost rent, compensation for those tenants who filed claims...the list goes on. Thankfully, 451 Powell Street was sitting vacant at the time of its demise.
