Vancouver Park Board Set To Vote On Kitsilano Bike Lane

Last week it was very subtly announced that the City had plans to build a new bike path to Kits Beach Park, which is separate from the already planned Point Grey - Cornwall greenway and seaside upgrades. Those who visit the park on a daily basis seem to think the new bike path is necessary to separate pedestrian and bike traffic for safety precautions. But as with all bike lane implementation, controversy ensues. Some are wondering why people were not properly consulted during this massive, life altering decision by the City. The 12-foot wide asphalt bike route is set to go before the Vancouver Park Board tonight and is expected to be approved.
