Bad Day For DTES Landlord, Sued For $18K By Former Tenants

Ten former tenants of a DTES building have sued their former landlord, George Wolsey for over $18,000. Why are the former tenants suing? Unhealthy living conditions, including rats, cockroaches, and other ongoing building issues. Earlier this fall, ten civil warrants were issued for his arrest and subsequent "wanted" posters were plastered across the city. Eventually he surrendered and a court day was set to today where Wolsey claims to have no money to pay for damages, despite selling the hotel earlier this year. Stay tuned for more.
